Michigan State University

Designing and teaching a fully asynchronous online WRA 101 section, by developing 10- to 20-minute instructional videos, webpage-style lesson plans, more gamified class activities, and process-based writing assignments, while adapting my interactive digital writing curriculum to foster an anxiety-free and participatory, experiential learning environment that sustains student engagement.

Provided online synchronous instructional coverage for a senior colleague’s WRA 101 section during a medical leave, by fostering an anxiety-free and participatory learning environment, adapting my interactive digital writing curriculum into the existing course structure, and ensuring instructional continuity and faculty support while coordinating assessment and student engagement.

Continuing curriculum innovations and applications include: 1) the integration of GenAI technology into experiential in-class activities (for critical reasoning) and 2) introductory web-writing and multimodal content creation (to develop creative thinking skills), aiming to enhance students’ academic capabilities for inquiry, discovery, and communication with community-engaged professional knowledge (Fall 2025–Spring 2026).

First-year writing course designed to develop students’ inquiry, discovery, and communication skills in diverse academic conversations through a series of five conventional/unconventional writing assignments (Fall 2024–Spring 2025).

Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen

First-year composition course themed around multimodal communication and researched essays through critical thinking and teamwork skills improvements.

A course introducing students to writing in technical and professional workplace settings: memoranda, business letters, research and business proposals, and the use of graphical and document design.

Texas Woman’s University

A continuous course of English Composition I, providing essential knowledge of research-focused academic writing to help students creatively and critically argue and analyze developed academic subjects. Created an anxiety-free educational environment through workshops and labor-oriented in-class and out-of-class activities to alleviate students’ writer’s block.

A merged course of upper-division undergraduate and graduate students investigating digitally mediated text analysis, theory, production, and pedagogy in global, public, and local dimensions of communication. Designed assignments for digital interactive media composition, using multimodal composition tools and a digital interactive geographic information system (Google Earth), and contributed to the Quakertown Meeting at the Denton Civic Center on April 30, 2022, to publish and present students’ multimodal composition.

First-year composition course themed around various academic writing genres (learning and literacy narrative, primary research, rhetorical argument, and multimodal presentation) to help students become familiar with future academic courses and writings and understand the effect of rhetorical messages.

Consulted with students at any level in diverse academic writing genres and tutor-training material developments; tutored through face-to-face, Zoom-synchronous, and asynchronous online consulting sessions.

Served as an embedded writing tutor for graduate students in writing master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.

Administrative and Research Experience

Selected to serve on the Academic Program Review and General Education committee, to analyze student data through the academic year, to contribute to general education curriculum renovations, and to provide in-person class instructional coverage as part of the faculty support system.

Reviewing and advising on the MSU FYW Program for the University Academic Program Review, the Writing Studio course initiative, and additional revisions to curriculum and learning goals.

Assessed the English Department-wide first-year composition programs and assignments, assisting in collecting data, evaluating taught course outcomes, and reporting scores of assignment samples.

Supported the English Department’s multimodal composition courses, collaborating with the IT Department to improve instructors’ accessibility to digital multimodal pedagogy; managed and maintained hardware and software inventory, and provided immediate troubleshooting on a prompt-demand basis.

World Literature Annotated Bibliography Analyst (Summer 2022). Rhetorical Multimedia Quantitative Data Analyst (Summer 2020).

Contributed to the digital annotated bibliography of The Victorian Cookbook Exhibit: The Queen’s Closet Reopened; designed the exhibition catalog and published digital versions (web and PDF).
